SDFLC, San Diego Financial Literacy Center

Who is the SDFLC?

Making San Diego America’s finest financially literate city.

We enhance the financial IQ of San Diego County residents, with a focus on youth (K-12 and college), military (active, transitioning and veteran), and low-to-moderate income persons.

We offer free educational seminars and workshops tailored to participants. We work with local partners to avoid duplicating services. Confidential one-on-one consultations and budget reviews are also available.

Along with our volunteers, we have helped thousands of people throughout the San Diego region.

Our history

The SDFLC was created in late 2013 and opened its doors to the public on February 26, 2014. Founded by Antony Murigu and Brad Pagano, SDFLC programs were integrated into DebtWave Credit Counseling, Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit headquartered in San Diego.

DebtWave was established in 2001 with the mission of delivering financial education and debt management services. Its community outreach program became the San Diego Financial Literacy Center.

Our goals

Short term: continue to provide information, education, and training that drives the financial stability of San Diego County residents.

Long term: increase financial literacy by helping individuals and families manage their finances, create strong credit profiles, borrow wisely, and plan for retirement.
